External evaluation of the organization

This is intended to help you understand how others perceive your organization. You should ask individuals who are familiar enough with your organization to offer constructive and honest feedback through the evaluation.

Adapt this form for your organization's use. In lieu of ratings or written feedback, consider using these questions as a starting point for active listening sessions.

  1. Does the land trust use inclusive language and images on its website and in its social media, news articles, blogs, presentations and other modes of communication?

  2. Do the staff and board members of the land trust reflect the diversity of the community they serve?

  3. How often do community members participate in and benefit from the programs and services of the land trust?

  4. How often do you participate in and benefit from the programs and services of the land trust?

  5. Are the organization’s programs and services accessible to people of all differences (gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, ability, socioeconomic status, age, religion, nationality, language)?

  6. Are people with different identities and perspectives involved in conceiving, planning, implementing and evaluating new projects, programs and services?

  7. Does the land trust share informational and/or financial resources with its partners?

  8. Does the land trust leverage its influence to assist other organizations in the community, especially those that have been systemically excluded?
