FAQ

Will it be too much work for our small staff?

We don’t have the technical expertise.

Organizations of all sizes and with a variety of technical expertise have been successful using remote technologies, which have become more user-friendly over time. Generally, we found that organizations with small staff and less experience were more likely to find value in continuing to use remote monitoring than larger staff organizations with more experience. This could be due to a number of factors, such as greater flexibility in their ability to integrate new practices into their workflows and more staff autonomy on when and how to change procedures.

Here is what some beginner organizations had to say about the technology:

“It has been great working with Upstream Tech Lens, they email back really quickly and we were able to move all Lens observations to Landscape (database)."

“I came to the land trust at the end of June, inheriting this project, so I didn’t use imagery for all of the properties. It was a really easy platform, if you would order imagery would usually get them within an hour.”
Prickly Pear Land Trust
“We had some prep meetings with Lens. They were very responsive and have nice guidelines for each step. The platform, itself, is pretty intuitive.”
