About This Webinar

"To soar toward what's possible, you must leave behind what's comfortable." — Cicely Tyson, Just as I Am

Diversity, equity and inclusion is a high priority for many land trusts, yet there are many questions and challenges: where do we start, how do we find the time, we don’t know what we don’t know, what if we make a mistake and more. Like much of what land trust professionals do in our everyday work, DEI is a journey that requires listening, learning, building skills, awareness, understanding, persistence and mindfulness in order to incorporate what we know into our work. In this webinar, we will introduce a new Land Trust Alliance tool to help land trust board members, staff and volunteers get started on their DEI journeys. Filled with practical tips and explanation of the resources, this webinar is essential for those wanting to make meaningful change for the people and places you serve. Join Forrest King-Cortes, director of community centered conservation, Katie Chang, senior manager of educational services and consultants Livia Marqués and Mikki Sager, Food Driven Strategies, as they share insights, strategies and practical tips for using this new online learning experience.

Here's a look at what we will cover:

  • Overview of the tool and how to use it.

  • Why DEI and story-based learning is an effective way to learn.

  • Tips for using the tool.

  • Strategies for encouraging your entire team to engage with the tool.
