The following case study shows how ALE programming has helped conservation of Camp Williams in Utah.

Utah National Guard’s Camp Williams Installation, just south of Salt Lake City and pictured here, has seen rapid residential growth nearby. The Conservation Fund recently completed a 400 acre easement in the area using NRCS Agricultural Land Easement, Department of Defense REPI funds and State of Utah funds to permanently protect working lands.

Camp Williams is a National Guard training site south of Salt Lake City, Utah. The military installation is surrounded by working lands and wildlife habitats that are vital to our national security and for species to survive.
The West Traverse Community Partnership worked with federal, state and local agencies to help preserve this space. The Conservation Fund and the National Guard Bureau entered a Cooperative Agreement to help preserve the land surrounding Camp Williams. This partnership will ensure that the working landscapes and wildlife habitat adjacent to Camp Williams will be protected.
