About This Webinar

Conservation easements must be carefully drafted to permanently protect land. This process may seem intimidating to land trust staff, volunteers or board members who are new to drafting easements or who aren’t lawyers themselves. Molly Fales of Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust (accredited) and Karin Marchetti of Maine Coast Heritage Trust (accredited), both experienced legal counsels, will lead a webinar that highlights templates, plans and processes for planning and drafting legally sound enforceable conservation easements.

Here’s a look at what we will cover:

  • Use of conservation plans.

  • Use of conservation easement drafting templates.

  • Completing legal due diligence in drafting.

  • Drafting clear and enforceable restrictions and reserved rights to avoid issues common to both gifted and purchased easements.

  • CCALT’s template-based approach for drafting conservation easements and roles of their legal counsel, acquisition and stewardship staff.

This webinar is included in the 2024 All-Access Pass.
