Americans with Disabilities Act Regulations for Mobility Devices and Public Access

About This Practical Pointer
All trails and lands open to the public are subject to the Americans with Disabilities Act and related regulations. This includes all lands open to the public owned by private landowners – including conservation land trusts. Wheelchairs are always allowed on lands open to the public and in most cases 'other power-driven mobility devices' ('OPDMDs'), including ATVs and snowmobiles, must be allowed too. These practical pointers explain OPDMD regulations affecting land trusts and how to evaluate sites and implement those regulations appropriately.
