About This Event

Join us for Land Trust Alliance Advocacy Days! We invite the staff, board members and volunteers of Alliance member land trusts to participate in our annual advocacy event to make a significant difference in land conservation.

As part of Advocacy Days, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Take part in our annual pre-Advocacy Days issue briefing and the first-timers' advocacy training.

  • Educate the 119th Congress about the important work of the land trust community.

  • Visit our debrief room to get answers to your questions, share information about your meetings and network with your peers.

  • Hear remarks from key Capitol Hill figures.

  • Participate in meetings with your members of Congress and have the opportunity to meet with key agency staff.

Participants in Land Trust Alliance events should review and agree to the Alliance Code of Conduct.

What is Advocacy Days?

The mission of our annual Advocacy Days is to bring the land trust community together to advocate for our shared policy priorities and educate members of Congress about the important work undertaken by land trusts. In addition, the event provides land trust leaders with advocacy training to help facilitate the building of strong relationships with key legislators and strengthen the political influence of the land trust community. The Land Trust Alliance advises Congress on important land trust issues in a way that no one land trust could do by itself — but to truly motivate elected officials, we need them to hear your stories about conserving our nation’s land and waters. Your participation is as important as it is truly valuable.

Members of Congress must receive a clear message that our community is a powerful coalition — and land conservation is an important national and local issue.

Travel and lodging

The Land Trust Alliance has secured a hotel block at Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill, 525 New Jersey Ave, Washington, D.C. 20001. However, we are unfortunately now sold out of those discounted rooms. Participants still in need of lodging assistance should use their favorite discount hotel search engine. Should you have questions, please email Patty Tipson, the Alliance's director of training. All participants are responsible for submitting payment for and reserving their accommodations.

Sponsorships

The generous support of our sponsors allows land trusts to continue to advocate for the special places we need and love in our communities. A range of sponsorship opportunities is available and sponsorship is a great way to increase your visibility and connect with a new audience. Contact Robert Schwartz for more sponsorship information.
