Orphaned easements and their siblings, neglected easements, have been a growing topic of concern, speculation, and debate within the land conservation community, including at some level, funders and regulators. There has been little discussion however, of a basic approach to defining the issue and problems, determining feasible resolutions, and developing a process for evaluating potential problems. This study attempts to do that.
