Results of the Land Trust Alliance's Disability Inclusion Survey

About This Report / White Paper
In December 2020 land trusts around the country were invited to participate in a survey on disability inclusion. This publication represents a compilation of the results of the information gathered in survey questions and open comments. Of those surveyed, most land trusts had begun planning for projects and programs for people with disabilities, and many had implemented projects. They reported a desire to improve, excitement to begin or continue efforts, innovative ideas, eagerness to move quicker and further, awareness of need, commitment to inclusion and mindfulness that, to be successful, this must be a long-term shift in thinking and organizational culture. We also heard that although disability inclusion is a priority, there are serious capacity challenges that organizations need to address if they are to “do this right” and make sure that programs and facilities (such as accessible trails) are sustainable for the long-term.
