Military Range Sustainment Through Regional Partnerships

About This PDF
In 2005, the Southeast Regional Partnership for Planning and Sustainability was formed in response to the rapid urbanization and loss of farm and other working lands, critical habitat, and increased incompatible development surrounding military bases in the region. The group brings together federal and state environmental and natural resource officials and Department of Defense officials working in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida and Mississippi to solve common problems across the region rather than on the smaller, parcel level.
The America’s Longleaf Restoration Initiative is the most successful program that has grown out of SERPPAS and serves as an excellent model for interagency cooperation on a landscape scale.
