About This Webinar

New York land trusts have a critical role to play in advancing the states Climate Action Plan through strategic forestland protection and management. This Lunch & Learn will showcase data and tools that land trusts can use to target their work for climate impact.

Dr. Colin Beier, associate professor at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, will walk through the findings of his New York Forest Carbon Assessment, a state-funded effort to map forest carbon across the state. Abigail Weinberg, senior director of conservation science and planning at the Open Space Institute, will demonstrate the use of mapping tools to integrate forest carbon data into conservation planning, project review and forestland management.

At this Lunch & Learn you will:

  • Understand how carbon assessments contribute to the state’s Climate Action Plan.

  • Convert carbon data into future conservation strategies.

  • Provide feedback on tools as they are being developed and learn about opportunities for technical support.
