About This Webinar

The scale of renewable energy development needed to meet our energy demands is considerable and will have a significant impact on the landscape, especially when it comes to solar. Increasingly, land trusts are grappling with questions regarding solar in relation to natural lands, conservation easements, fee simple holdings and human communities.  Join the Alliance’s Land and Climate Program Manager, Kelly Watkinson, Conservation Defense Fund & Education Manager, Ailla Wasstrom-Evans and Audrey Friedrichsen, senior climate and renewable energy attorney at Scenic Hudson, as they discuss how to prepare for and strike a balance between this development and the protection of important natural and community resources.

Here's a look at what we will cover:

  • National push towards renewable energy, what are the impacts and why it should matter to your land trust.

  • Land trust considerations for siting renewable energy on conservation easements and fee simple holdings.

  • Practical strategies and resources, such as Scenic Hudson’s How to Solar Now toolkit, that land trusts can use when engaging in solar projects in their communities.
