About This Practical Pointer

Sound conservation easement drafting ensures perpetual protection of the stated conservation purposes of protected land. Land trusts are now at a critical juncture between traditional drafting for broad conservation goals based more on preserving what is currently existing on the land and the demands to adapt drafting to anticipate the material, physical effects of long-term alterations due to changing conditions. This pointer addresses drafting future conservation easements assuming increases in impacts from such changes.

See Adapting Stewardship Administration to Changing Conditions for considerations in stewardship administration.
