Land Trust Alliance reacts to release of U.S. Senate Republican farm bill framework

Washington — Today, the ranking member on the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senator John Boozman (R-Ark.), released a title-by-title summary of the Senate Minority version of the Farm Bill. The following statement on the release of that summary can be attributed to Lori Faeth, senior director of government relations at the Land Trust Alliance:
"The Land Trust Alliance applauds Senator John Boozman (R-Ark.) for putting forward a Farm Bill framework that includes many of the Land Trust Alliance Farm Bill priorities. These priorities were developed in conjunction with our nearly 1,000 member land trusts located across the country and will enable farmers, ranchers and foresters to keep critical working lands in family hands. The framework also includes a stand-alone Forest Conservation Easement Program with mandatory funding that will fill the gap in conserving working forested lands and help keep them intact and sustainably managed, providing numerous economic and environmental benefits to rural and urban communities. We are grateful to Senator Boozman for his leadership and urge him and Chair Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) to work together and move forward in a bipartisan, bicameral manner and pass a new Farm Bill this year."
