Land Trust Alliance partners with Eleos Life to help policyholders leave a legacy for the land

The Eleos-Land Trust Alliance collaboration aims to make values-aligned giving more accessible through convenient solutions that fit seamlessly into financial planning.

The Land Trust Alliance is pleased to share an announcement from Eleos Life about a new community-driven collaboration — launching soon, Eleos policyholders will be able to designate the Land Trust Alliance as a beneficiary on their life insurance policy alongside family members and other loved ones. Through this partnership, Eleos aligns its mission of financial protection with a broader commitment to community well‑being, climate resilience, and the places people need and love.

“Most people want to give back to the places that shaped them, but it’s not always obvious how to build that into everyday financial choices,” said Kiruba Shankar Eswaran, president and CEO of Eleos Life. “This collaboration is about making it easier for people to support community‑led land conservation as part of the legacy they leave behind.”

Through this relationship, Eleos will champion land trusts and the communities they serve, highlighting practical, values-aligned ways for individuals to weave conservation and community impact into their long‑term plans.

Why it matters

For many families, the places that feel like “home” aren’t limited to four walls — they’re the parks, trails, working lands, lakes and rivers, and open spaces that bring people together. The Eleos-Land Trust Alliance collaboration aims to make values-aligned giving more accessible through convenient solutions that fit seamlessly into financial planning.

“We know that people who love the lands and waters around them are looking for practical ways to give back,” said Michael Wubbenhorst, corporate relations manager at the Land Trust Alliance. “This partnership with Eleos offers a new path for supporters to help save the places they need and love, while still taking care of the people closest to them.”

The Land Trust Alliance and its member land trusts work on the front lines of conservation, helping landowners protect private lands that are essential to increasing habitat conservation, maintaining clean water, providing equitable land access, addressing the impacts of climate change and more. By making it easier for policyholders to include nonprofits like the Alliance in their life insurance planning, Eleos is helping people all over the world leave a living legacy for a healthier planet.
