South Carolina land conservation has done too much good to let bad deals undermine it

The Land Trust Alliance, a trade association with about 950 members, strongly supported new language that should prevent any erosion of public support over the use of tax incentives to promote land conservation. Andrew Bowman, president and CEO of the Alliance, has noted that investors in what he called abusive syndicated conservation easements claimed almost $36 billion in unwarranted deductions between 2010 and 2018.
