A Moore County family has worked with a regional land-conservation group to place 467 acres under a permanent conservation easement protecting it from development. Three Rivers Land Trust announced the Auman family’s decision on Thursday, March 26, protecting land along Drowning Creek, the headwaters of the Lumber River, which is the primary drinking water source for the town of Southern Pines.
