If there’s one lesson that’s been proven over and over again in the southern Lowcountry, it’s that land conservation is a team sport. The recent purchase of 625 acres in Jasper County by The Nature Conservancy serves as a case in point. The privately owned parcel was, before the conservancy’s acquisition, surrounded by state-owned land, the 10,570-acre Coosawhatchie Heritage Preserve/Wildlife Management Area.
