141 acres of historic battlefield in Frederick County protected through conservation easement

A 141.6-acre property in northeastern Frederick County that lies within the core battle areas of three major Civil War battlefields was permanently protected through a conservation easement last month, according to a joint announcement by the Land Trust of Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation. It was the setting for fighting during the Second and Third Battles of Winchester in 1863 and 1864 and the Battle of Rutherford's Farm in 1864.
