$50,000 grant awarded to preserve wetlands along Animas River

La Plata Open Space Conservancy has received a $50,000 grant from Great Outdoors Colorado to help finance a conservation easement for a 67-acre piece of property along the Animas River. The property includes 10 acres of wetlands and will safeguard critical riparian habitat and water quality for fish and wildlife, and support water resources for downstream water and recreation users throughout the region, in perpetuity.
