Farmland Protection Manager
This role provides comprehensive leadership for farmland protection initiatives, overseeing projects from initiation through closing to ensure alignment with grant requirements and conservation goals. Responsibilities include developing site plans and project budgets, drafting and reviewing conservation easements, and managing all aspects of grant compliance and due diligence.
The position involves coordinating legal, transactional and technical reviews — such as appraisals, surveys, title work, and environmental assessments — and resolving issues to ensure successful project execution. Using GIS and soil mapping tools, the role prioritizes parcels in accordance with the land trust’s strategic plan. The position also emphasizes strong stakeholder engagement, representing the organization at public meetings and cultivating relationships with landowners, municipalities, and partners. Additionally, it includes supervising the farmland protection assistant, leading the farmland committee, collaborating across teams, and advancing public outreach through presentations and communications that promote farmland protection.
