Director of Conservation
The Dutchess Land Conservancy, based in Millbrook, New York, seeks a director of conservation to lead complex land-protection projects that advance our mission to preserve the scenic, agricultural, and environmental resources of Dutchess County and surrounding areas. Reporting to the senior director of conservation and stewardship and supervising the land projects manager, this position manages all aspects of conservation easements and fee acquisitions, including project evaluation, negotiation, due diligence and drafting easements in accordance with Land Trust Alliance Standards and Practices.
The director works closely with landowners, public agencies and private partners; identifies and secures funding; prepares materials for committees and the Board; and represents DLC in public forums and multi-stakeholder initiatives. The ideal candidate has at least five years of land conservation project management experience, strong knowledge of land conservation tools and accreditation standards, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with ArcGIS and related technologies.
