Your generosity enables the Alliance to work with land trusts that want to do something simple in concept, yet extraordinary in impact: make their communities, our country and the world a better place for all.

“ I support the Land Trust Alliance because it provides the best return on my conservation investment... The people at the Alliance make local conservation possible across the country by empowering nearly 1,000 land trusts, including the ones in my community."
David Calle, 2025 Chairman of the Board, Land Trust Alliance

Conservation stands strong with you.

These four pillars of our mission provide a solid foundation for land conservation to stand the test of time.

  • Investing in people

    • Achieving meaningful change through people

You help provide land conservation professionals and volunteers with expertise, guidance, national perspective and a suite of support services that yield far more durable and lasting impact than any single investment in land acquisition, endowment or program expansion could.

    • Field services

We made connections with our members — ranging from phone calls and virtual meetings to in-person visits. This consistent engagement results in thousands of meaningful touchpoints annually, strengthening the land trust community.

    • Peer support

We hosted 25 peer networks and working groups for executive directors, urban conservationists, communications and stewardship professionals, board members and more. Land conservationists can learn from each other, strengthening conservation along the way.

  • Advocating

    • Leveraging federal funding and programs

You help advance federal policies and secure resources to accelerate the pace of voluntary private land conservation. Our strength lies in our ability to mobilize our members to engage with their elected officials and contacts in the administration.

    • Advocacy Days

Our policy fly-in brought 130 land trust leaders from 33 states to D.C. for trainings, networking and 200 congressional meetings.

    • Voters are clear about land and water

They want to protect it. Conservation is the common thread that unites us all. Our work is nonpartisan with public support from people from all walks of life, backgrounds and experiences. 82% of voters believe conserving our country’s natural resources — land, water and air — is patriotic. 22 ballot measures across 13 states passed during the 2024 election and will convey nearly $18 billion to conservation.

  • Collaborating

    • Tackling pivotal issues and building trust

You help catalyze and sustain change. With your support the Alliance empowers and challenges land trusts to pilot new models for land and water protection and to address critical issues in land conservation.

    • Land and Climate Program

The Land Trust Alliance and the Open Space Institute awarded $213,000 in grants through their joint Land and Climate Grant Program to support 18 land trusts and other nonprofits as they work with local communities to better plan for and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

    • Disability Access, Inclusion and Leadership grant

The Alliance and the Council for Inclusive Health and Disabilities partnered with Disabled Hikers to co-create a new grant program that awarded $118,000 to 10 land trusts in 2024. The grants are for advancing accessibility, inclusion and belonging for people with disabilities through partnerships, relationship and trust building, and co-creation of programs and services.

  • Convening

    • Going further together

You help create a formidable, capable and coordinated community of land trusts, united by a shared vision and supported with the right resources.

    • Rally

The National Land Conservation Conference in Providence, Rhode Island, had 2,337 attendees — a record turnout! $185,930 in scholarships and stipends helped 64 people and 114 organizations get to Rally.

    • Education and training

More than 4,500 practitioners participated in 45 online courses and seminars, took 18 regional training sessions and attended three conferences.

    • Indigenous Summit:

An Indigenous planning team, the Land Trust Alliance and consulting partner, Gerard Rodriguez, hosted the second Indigenous Land Conservation Summit that preceded Rally in Rhode Island. More than 100 leaders and land stewards from tribes, Indigenous land trusts and nonprofits attended this Indigenous-only gathering. 100% of attendees indicated that they made connections that will help them advance land stewardship, access and reclamation.

Each year, our staff has the opportunity to attend Rally and connect with other land trusts across the country. It’s an awesome way for us to learn from similar organizations, put our heads together to solve problems and discover new ways of thinking about how to serve our community best.”
Hudson Taconic Lands (New York)
"It’s wonderful to partner with our members, talking one on one and connecting western land trusts to resources that support land conservation in their communities and region."
Owen Wozniak, Land Transactions Manager, Land Trust Alliance (Oregon)
Involvement in the Wentworth Leadership program and investment of funds from the Land Trust Alliance have spurred several initiatives including the Land Conservation Plan and other complementary initiatives to continue COL’s growth as an organization in the coming years.”
Ryan Postema, Chiaming Open Lands (Michigan)

You made all the difference.

Saving the lands people need and love continues to bring us together. And it’s all thanks to you, our growing community of supporters, partners, affiliates and member land trusts.

Thank you.

With your continued loyalty, we will double the amount of land conserved by the end of 2030 and expand our programs and engagement with new partners and communities.

Thank you for saving the places people need and love, with us.
